/\Yeah I thought the same thing when I read that. Very tempted to add him to the Giambac list but the overall entertainment of his posts keeps me from doing so.

    That's a promise.

LOL.. It is Madrid. I know my posts are being ignored because I am not a regular, but believe me, it's Madrid on 7/22.

Also, Paul and the crew are currently working on securing Juventus for August. Laugh away, but this is 100% legit.

Exactly! When you take money from someone you become accountable for that. Do you think MLSE would allow half of things we do or have no input on what we would be doing with their money? Anyways getting out of this thread before it becomes epic.

The bolded part is true. The rest, not so sure...

    I'd bet no
I wonder if the Juve game would be at Skydome and the revenue generated there would offset the loss on having to pay for grass and to pay Real Madrid to play in a 20k seat stadium (with less than 4,000 tickets to sell). Real Madrid at BMO would be a financial loss of epic proportions. Appearence fee and grass...all to be paid for by selling less that 4000 tickets? MLSE aren't in the habit of losing money.

That's if the rumours of RM and Juve coming are true.

hahaha. I must be on the pay no mind list.

Truth is, I speak nothing but the truth, son. I'm surprised more people aren't on here backing me up because I know of many people who are well aware of both Madrid being confirmed and Juventus being almost confirmed.

    $500Gs???

Add to that whatever costs there are in bringing in the team, say another $500Gs and you have extraordinary costs to bring in a team AND play on grass.

Unless MLSE is making this a money-losing venture (highly doubtful) something has to give, the team or the grass.

But I stand by my opinion that it will not be a top European team, it will likely be someone from Latin America. And it won't be on grass.

Assuming we had a team here from Serie A and another from La Liga - is there a strong business reason to bring them to BMO? Selling 20,000 tickets generates some money, and maybe TV rights for the friendly brings in something. Beyond that, is MLSE trying to appeal to fans of Italian and Spanish soccer that ordinarily don't pay any attention to TFC?

Maybe they've looked at the TV numbers for those leagues in our market, and look at this as a way to woo over some of those viewers.

Which brings up a good question. I don't think they televised previous friendlies. Do you think they will this one?

Just based on straight price points (6) for the international friendlies, the average ticketprice is $98 - I figure there is less higher priced seats than lower priced seats left. So using an average of $75/ticket.

    $75/ticket X 4,000 = $300,000

You still thinking bra and panties? If it's televised, you'll be the Toronto equivalent of the now infamous "diaper boy" from Salt Lake City. Looking forward to it.

The Aston Villa and Benfica friendlies were televised, just not in Canada.

Neither of last years friendlies were televised.

It would surprise me if the opponent was as big as Real Madrid or Juventus and it wasn't on TV.
