Its unfortunate Berna is suspended as this match will take a really high work ethic with great organization to get anything out of it.
Cinci to me is the best team in the league. Sure, Miami is higher in the standings but they are less consistent and defensively weak. They just overcome it with Messi and friends scoring more.
Cinci is extremely organized, consistent and doesn't give up much.
Yeah, unfortunate and especially so because it could have easily been avoided.
I’m bringing a knowledgeable Iranian fan and was hoping at least we’d have both Italians on the pitch.
Montreal in the warmth was glorious (though Bernie was resposible for lots of those good feelings).
It shouldn't have been given. He didn't even swear at the guy, he just did a dismissive hand wave.
The slide tackle Long was yellow-carded for to reach five shouldn't have been given either. He was slightly late, but he got ball, didn't go through the man at all and his studs were barely showing at all. Just being late on a slide tackle, when no one is hit or injured, shouldn't be a yellow.
That ref was a fucking joke. We've had a couple this season who were borderline incompetent in how much they missed or how easily fooled they were.
MLS officiating is, at least, getting better at letting them play and not turning it into a showcase of stops. But it's still far from generally competent. They just don't read and see the play at speed accurately enough. (Although the game is so generally quick now this is an issue in every league; I'm used to Premier League and Championship officials, and very few of our guys, I think, could make it at that level).
Too often, too, MLS refs are sold by dives. A guy sticks his leg out, the ball is clear, and then the attacker goes over the leg. In most leagues, if the defender already has position with his foot and it's not into the path at the time of contact, he's not getting called for a trip because the other guy literally deliberately ran "over" his leg.
A great example of this in the Premier League was when Forest played Liverpool earlier this year and Liverpool's keeper missed the ball, then the striker tripped over him. But the ball had been pushed ahead so far by the striker he was unlikely to catch it before it went out, so he couldn't argue he had control, and the goalkeeper was down two steps before the striker got there. The striker could've avoided the contact and chose not to, so he didn't get the call.
That's how they should play it here. But here, any contact at all -- a stiff fucking breeze, practically -- is enough for a call. MLS refs will blow guys for going shoulder to shoulder arguing it was done too roughly.
All of this shit is, from a Leeds fan's perspective, why some MLS prospects go over to Europe and are just run over, Brenden Aaronson being the finest example. He's very skilled on the ball, he sees the game ahead of him... and he falls over in a stiff breeze, which doesn't get called in Europe.

Not sure that was the dissent episode he received the yellow for. That happened a little, minute, later. Believe it involved an episode about a minute before that. Still, agree with you that it should not have been given since he was wearing the armband and should have been given some/more leeway to voice (his) concern.
MLS referees are 99% American therefore they do not have a clue what is a foul is as apposed to intent to injury.
They have no concept of how to run the game with a whistle and a quiet word.
Most of the linesmen that I have watched at BMO wait for the ref to indicate direction before using the flag.
As someone who has been part of football(Soccer)For nigh on 70 years I have come to the conclusion that because of the nature of the beast they will never get it so enjoy what we can.
FWIW,

Just realized Cinci's away record is 5-1-1. Better then their home record....
They're really good. They beat Columbus last week, they've got their defence fully healthy again, and the new Venezuelan striker is a handful, very good at finding space in the box as he knows Acosta will track his movement.
It's like playing Nashville, in that if you shut down Acosta ala Mukhtar, you have a chance.
But he's a great player. PSG came in for him at one point and by the time DC stopped dicking them around on price, they'd changed managers and the new one didn't fancy him. He plays very similarly to Seba.
Tough game for us, as we're mostly successful in transition and a) no Fede, while b) they're great at defending counterattacks.
A good test. A likely loss but a really good way to see how good we actually are compared to where we need to be.
Hopefully we can keep them off the score sheet early because once they get one, they are not giving up the space to give up one back.

Is Kerr injured?
No Coello makes sense as any turnover to Cinci will be extremely costly.
JMR taking Fede's spot, which seems the most natural fit. This is a good chance for him to show what he can do. When he played RW earlier this season he looked dangerous, outpacing guys and moving the ball forward quickly.
Anyone have a link for an online stream?
Thanks!
This ref is.... not good
Cinci is playing a lot more long balls than I thought they would
Nice corner goal!
Acosta whines about not getting the ball more then Seba did
33' flores gets a yellow
When the 4th official calls it a corner.....
1-0 at the break
I think they made a mistake assuming they'd beat the high backline. Almost did, twice. But by playing Acosta as a false nine/10, they've taken him out of helping connect the buildup play, so they're having a lot of trouble advancing the ball at all.
We're playing real well, just one lapse period where we slowed it down and weren't focussed. We're playing balls to the wall, though, so we need to be careful not to lose a player here, a couple of yellows already.
Gomis might be the best value signing in TFC history.
Orellano has been the best player on the pitch. Unfortunate.
orellano scores for cincy...1-1 53'
This just got turned on it's head. Sloppy, sloppy.
