Looks like Insigne is staying. Ciro Immobile to Besiktas.

An "international centre back" (combining the jloome and Molinaro reports) who is available and would be cheap, that is getting some attention from MLS in general, would be John Brooks, the USMNT player...

Here's a fun speculative idea
A trade with the Sundowners. Boutouil (Moroccan CB) for Mailula.
feel like they're looking at younger options, but he would be great in MLS (assuming not a DP).
Sign Brooks and half of Forge fandom will go "Of course, he's an American"
(he'd be our fourth)
I have to say... Brooks here doesn't make a ton of sense to me, solely because he has marketing value to a US team. He is a beloved Dichio-like figure to USMNT supporters (google John Brooks goal 2014 if you don't recall why)

Brooks signing for say the Revs would have the same marketing appeal as someone like Vitoria signing for TFC. You'd get a few people on the Twitter post excited because they remember him from the national team, but the amount of tickets you would sell by signing a former Nat CB in his 30's would be very few.
I would compare it to TFC bringing in Omar Gonzalez. He wasn't good for the complete duration of his time here, but that first 18 months him and Chris Mavinga were potentially our best CB pairing in team history.
Possible, as he's free. Also could be another English player, given Herdman's contacts. There are currently two whole pages on Transfermarkt of English defenders looking for a new club.
EDIT: Dan Potts, ex of Luton, would be a decent example. Played 25 games for them in Championship in 2023, but then didn't make the cut in the Premier League in 2024. Nine years with his last club, suggesting a decent, consistent performer. 30 years old and free.
International to me suggests he qualifies as an int'l player in MLS, which wouldn't be Brooks.

Hmmm, I wonder if Kevin Long knows, is friends or friendly with and ever paired with Paddy McNair?

I mean he's right but also he's clearly not good enough for mls
I tend to agree.
I know Angus MacDonald was a guy they were looking at previously (he was at an Aberdeen coaching event today, I checked, lol), so I think that type of signing.
Herdman had a similar smile to the one he had when we brought in Longstaff, saying it's something they have been working on for awhile.
Another Geordie?
Paul Dummett CB
Matt Ritchie RWB
Jeff Hendrick MF
All frees
Paul Dummett is the only CB out of the bunch.
