MLS has a nice break down of the records we're chasing

According to SportsStats site, even if TFC loses the remaining 6 games, still has 30% change of SS. That's sweet. Getting 2 W's probably does it.
Going un defeated at home will be some accomplishment. That will be enough motivation to see us over the finish line. The most satisfying thing about this seaon is that I genuinely feel that TFC has raised the bar on the league. Not with three highly paid star DP's but in terms of squad depth and overall quality of the team. Teams that fail to respond will get left behind.
Does anyone know when the Shield is presented?
Is it as soon as we clinch? First home game after we clinch? Last home game after we clinch? Last game? Some separate ceremony after the league is done?
I was at the Red Bulls home opener last year against TFC and they presented the shield from the previous season then. Not sure when they actually clinched it so they may not have had time to present at the end of the year...
Toronto 'til I die although still a Leeds fan at heart...
Traditionally, its either the game we clinch if at home or the next home game after, after the game. NYRB didn't because they were all "we don't take this that seriously" after all their playoff flops.
We, on the other hand, take this trophy seriously.
I still think the presentation happens one way shape or form after the NYRB game.
“Years have gone by and I’ve finally learned to accept myself for who I am: a beggar for good football.
I go about the world, hand outstretched, and in the stadiums I plead: ‘A pretty move, for the love of God.’
And when good football happens, I give thanks for the miracle and I don’t give a damn which team or country performs it.”

Will Toronto FC’s record season matter if it doesn’t win MLS Cup? Absolutely, Larson says

To ensure no lower than 4th, our magic number is now 5 to be clear of Chicago.
To ensure no lower than 2nd (home field advantage in the conference semi) it is 8 to be clear of Atlanta.
To ensure home field for the final (better than top West team) it is 7 to be clear of Vancouver (!).
And, of course, 10 to be clear of all (the goal of this thread).
The way you stake out turf as one of the great teams in MLS history is by destroying teams in the playoffs. I want to win every playoff game 4-0. The second legs would be giant parties.
That's what I want.
"There are some people who might have better technique than me, and some may be fitter than me, but the main thing is tactics. With most players, tactics are missing. You can divide tactics into insight, trust, and daring." - Johan Cruyff
^that's definitely the stress free route.
Getting through the East, although any of those teams could knock us off - I have to believe Atlanta is the biggest threat. An away game on their turf, with that offense, could put us in a situation like we were in with Montreal last year.
Our weak spots - teams that suffocate and frustrate us on defense, and fast teams that can exploit us on counters. Atlanta fits the mold for an explosive and fast counter attack punch.
Come the finals - we could be in for a very tough go if we face Seattle again, same if SKC somehow gets through. That could be another 0-0 shoot out situation. Dallas, Portland, and Houston would be an ideal team to come in. We can go goal for goal with their offense - and none of them are particularly good on the road. That leaves Vancouver - good on the road, and not a terrible goals against number (reasonable defense).
If we can avoid Atlanta, SKC, and Seattle (and to some extent Vancouver) - December 9th should be a great party.
In a -10 C weather, TFC's starting 11 being far superior technically compared 1 on 1 with any other starting eleven in MLS, will almost totally lose this edge. Do you agree with this statement?
In those freezing conditions the individual technical quality on the ball is dwarfed and the role of the brute athletic qualities, like force, speed, stamina over 90 minutes (or 120) are greatly magnified.

We are contenders for the Cup at this point, nothing more. Certainly no shoo-in.
