    I believe the rule was that teams from same association cannot face each other, not federation.

    All the Mexican and US clubs (except Colorado) couldn't be drawn against each other because they were all in Pot 1. So Colorado could have only drawn America, Tijuana, UANL, Guadalajara, or us.
