really looking forward to seeing mailula this year.
really believe he was a signing made for 2024 and on.
Herdman presser yesterday went up today

I want to be excited for Mailula but logically I can’t.
He came over last summer and played 68’ in 3 appearances. Reasons for this are anyone’s guess but to not get on the field with a roster that is so poor and a team that couldn’t win a game is pretty disheartening. Is he a long term project? Does he just not fit the formation? It doesn’t make sense to me.
Maybe Herdman gets something out of this kid but my expectations are rock bottom.
I agree but there has been some talk of an injury… does anyone know about this? If he wasn’t fit for much of that time it’s a different thing than just not getting on the pitch.
Herdman has been talking up Ayo quite a lot and why wouldn’t he? We need to get something out of those under 22 spots and he probably suffers from confidence issues. The scene has been set for him to make a comeback… let’s hope he does it. Too bad be can’t be converted into a wingback we seem to very much need one of those especially if Petretta is used on the left of a back three. Bradley gave him a shot at going back to the wing but it was a game and half, I think, more like a scattershot. He didn’t seem to look worse there than up front.
If Kobe plays a lot I think he can’t be pushed high. I do think that Herdman is going to get more out of the defence with the guys we have
Is this match streamed anywhere
Interesting, This was from the article above, anyone heard of a first pre-season game being 120 minutes in length? I get they will only get 60 minutes which is good at least...
The Nashville game will be a 120-minute affair with playing time spread around so TFC players won’t see more than 60 minutes action.
He hurt his foot right after his last short appearance for us. They thought it was less serious but given how badly we were playing that exposing him to coming back into that, working his way into a losing lineup from an injury, was a bad idea.
It had nothing to do with ability to get into the team.
My sense is that once Bob was gone, they really figured it was better not to expose Owusu or Maillula to too much of the toxic shit that was flying around.

doing a quick search shows multiple websites reporting that he was injured:

Just to clarify, I was told directly by someone at the club that he hurt his foot in training after his last appearance for us, and they specifically held him out because of risk of re-injury.
But they weren't upset with that, because the locker room was toxic at the time, and integrating new pieces slowly made sense.
Some interesting detail on training techniques in this one:

The kid has tremendous talent. Quick speed and a mind to get behind the play when needed. As always it takes a young kid time to acclimate to a new team, country and also environment. He has the talent; I really want to see if we put that to good use this season. Not playing him regularity would be a travesty. Hes the kind of player to rebuild around
after the first of 4- 30 min intervals, tfc up 1-0, bernardeschi goal.
Found a link that doesn't force me to sign in.
2-0 TFC, Insigne goal.
I'll admit, even though I know not to judge by pre-season, last season's start fucking terrified me. I was hoping for a team of veterans clicking, but even before the injuries, we went three or four exhibition games after the first one, as I recall, without scoring.
That was a really bad sign that whatever Bradley was preaching wasn't working, because he'd already been here for a season by then, including half a season with Fede and Insigne.
First match finishes 2-0
They're only playing 60 min each, so I assume most of the starters are out for game two.
even as a preseason win, gotta feel good for the players.
2nd win since **may 27th**.
