So we did it in our 11th season.
There were 13 teams in MLS in 2007. We beat the odds - slightly.
"There are some people who might have better technique than me, and some may be fitter than me, but the main thing is tactics. With most players, tactics are missing. You can divide tactics into insight, trust, and daring." - Johan Cruyff
We did it.
Just think of how the 3-5-2 has contributed to this success. Our d-backs on both sides just do so well. I knew years ago acquiring Morrow would be so helpful to the team, but I didn't imagine it meant anything like this.
We suffered a lot over the past 11 years supporting this team - today culminated our best season and the Supporters Shield is a great achievement in itself. We should take the time to enjoy the moment. The team deserved this & the support deserved it. We've improved the standard in MLS & we can continue to improve. Long may it run.
Finally, some decent hardware!
we are the champs...lets hope we can win this mini 5 game toury coming up.
Time for the 2017 playoff thread!

Gotta track those Playoff teams. Red Bulls with one win will eliminate everyone in the east.
so lets talk about this, after the first round bye, we will play the lowest seeded team that wins the knockouts.
This means that on Oct 30/31 we will have our first away game in either Chicago, Columbus or at NYRB. Chance to play in Atlanta is small, they will need to be over taken by Chicago or Columbus, which given current form will be difficult.
Oct 30/31 is a monday tuesday combo, which is shitty but should be a fun away trip regardless.
Only thing left of importance this regular season is the Galaxy record. They need 4 points to pass them.
It's actually pretty close to "slightly". Given the number of teams each year (13,14,15,16,18,19,19,19,20,20,22), and a equal change to win each year by each team, the chance that we would have won a supporter's shield by now (including this season) is at 48%. So we're almost at the balancing point of equal changes to win and not.
MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto
Looking forward to the massive celebration of emotion when the Supporter Shield is finally presented on Oct. 15 at BMO Field. After the celebration on Saturday it is bound to only get bigger in two weeks.
